Privacy Policy
What BEV collects, why it is used, who may see it, and how you can control or request deletion of your information, including development and native test builds.
1. Introduction
Welcome to BEV ("BEV," "we," "our," or "us"). BEV is an 18+ social nightlife app for discovering places, connecting with friends, and sharing venue moments. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who may see it, and the choices available to you.
Short version: BEV is still moving fast, especially across web and native testing. We keep this policy clear at category level so you know what is happening without publishing our private engineering playbook.
Our commitment
We do not sell your personal data. Permissions such as location, contacts, photos, and notifications are tied to specific features, and you can decline them with some feature limits.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Account and profile information
- Name, email address, profile photo, and sign-in provider identifiers from supported login providers such as Google or Apple.
- Profile details you choose to add, such as display name, city, vibe, avatar, friends, invite links, and app preferences.
- Support messages, feedback, reports, and other information you send to BEV.
2.2 Location and venue activity
BEV may use approximate or precise location when you use nearby discovery, check-ins, friend presence, maps, or other location-aware features.
- Show nearby bars, events, and venue suggestions.
- Help verify check-ins and venue-based activity.
- Show friends or relevant users that you are at or near a venue when you use social presence features.
- Protect the app from abuse, fake check-ins, spam, or unsafe activity.
Location control
You can manage location permission in your device settings. BEV is not intended to publish a continuous map of your exact GPS location.
2.3 Contacts and friends
Contacts sync is optional and starts only after you choose a friend-finding feature. Depending on platform support, BEV may read names, phone numbers, and email addresses from your device contacts to help find people already using BEV.
- Phone numbers and emails may be normalized or hashed for matching before they are sent to BEV.
- BEV does not text, call, email, or invite anyone from your contacts without your action.
- Contact identifiers are used for friend matching, abuse prevention, and showing matches back to you. They are not sold.
Your control
You can turn contacts access off in iOS or Android settings. You can still add friends with QR codes, links, or in-app discovery where available.
2.4 Photos, messages, and user content
- Photos or videos you choose to upload, attach, or share with bars, friends, events, or your profile.
- Messages, comments, check-ins, ratings, reviews, game activity, and other content you create in BEV.
- Photo matching or memory features may process selected photos or derived match information to personalize your experience. When processing can happen on device, BEV is designed to prefer that path.
2.5 Device, analytics, and diagnostics
- Device model, operating system, app version, and locale.
- IP address, browser details, cookies, and local storage.
- App interactions, crash logs, performance data, and security events.
- Push notification tokens if you enable notifications.
2.6 Venue and provider data
BEV also uses venue information from public sources, open map providers, service providers, and user submissions. Venue information is not personal data unless it is tied to an individual user submission or account.
2.7 Development, beta, and native testing data
If you use a development, beta, preview, native, or other non-final build, BEV may collect extra diagnostics and test records so we can find bugs before they become everyone's evening plans. This can include technical, usage, permission, performance, error, feedback, and test-account information needed to run the test.
Tester note
Use test accounts when possible. Do not submit confidential, regulated, or third-party private data to test builds unless you have the right to do so and are comfortable with BEV using it to test, debug, secure, and improve the app.
3. How We Use Information
- Authenticate accounts and keep BEV available.
- Provide bar discovery, maps, check-ins, and social features.
- Match contacts, friend invites, and other connections you ask BEV to make.
- Personalize recommendations, memories, events, and app experiences.
- Send service messages, push notifications, and safety or account updates.
- Moderate content, respond to reports, prevent fraud, and protect users and venues.
- Improve performance, understand feature use, fix bugs, and develop BEV responsibly.
- Test and improve web/native builds, app reliability, and in-development features.
- Comply with law and enforce our Terms of Service.
4. How Information Is Shared
We share information only as needed to operate, protect, and improve BEV. We do not sell your personal data or your contacts.
- Other users: Your profile, photos, messages, check-ins, friend status, and venue presence may be visible to friends or other users depending on the feature and your choices.
- Service providers: Hosting, storage, authentication, push notifications, maps, analytics, crash reporting, moderation, email, and support providers may process data for BEV under their service terms.
- Authorized testers and collaborators: People helping us build, review, support, test, or secure BEV may access data when needed for those purposes, especially in development and native test builds.
- Venues and public surfaces: Content you post to venue pages or public BEV areas may be seen by other users and may help improve venue information.
- Safety and legal reasons: We may disclose information if required by law, to respond to valid legal requests, or to protect BEV, users, venues, or the public.
- Business transfers: If BEV is involved in a merger, financing, acquisition, or asset sale, information may transfer as part of that transaction, subject to this policy or a replacement policy disclosed to users.
5. Permissions and Controls
- Location: Manage access in device settings. Nearby discovery, check-ins, and presence features may be limited without it.
- Contacts: Contacts sync is optional. You can revoke access in device settings and still use other friend discovery methods.
- Photos and camera: You choose what to upload or share. You can change photo-library permissions in device settings.
- Notifications: You can opt out in device settings or in-app settings where available.
- Development builds: Test builds may include extra diagnostics and preview behavior. If a build feels experimental, that is the point; use a public build or a test account for lower-risk testing.
- Account deletion: You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data by contacting bevvcool@gmail.com. We may retain limited information when needed for security, fraud prevention, legal obligations, or dispute resolution.
6. Data Retention
We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide BEV, comply with law, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and protect the app. Some nightlife activity, such as check-ins, photos, and messages, may be designed to expire or be cleared on a shorter schedule for privacy. Backups, logs, cached copies, and content already shared with others may persist for a limited period.
Contacts sync data is used for matching when you use the feature. BEV does not maintain your address book as a general marketing list.
Development and native testing records may be kept while an issue, migration, safety review, or experiment is active. We may also retain limited records for security, legal, fraud-prevention, abuse-prevention, or dispute-resolution reasons.
7. Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, object to, restrict, or withdraw consent for certain processing of your personal information.
To make a request, contact us at bevvcool@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.
8. International Transfers
BEV may process and store information in the United States and other locations where our service providers operate. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international data transfers.
9. Cookies and Similar Technology
We use cookies, local storage, and similar technology for authentication, security, preferences, analytics, and app functionality. You can manage browser cookies in your browser settings, though some features may not work without them.
10. Children's Privacy
BEV is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to BEV, contact us so we can take appropriate action.
11. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No internet or mobile service can be guaranteed 100% secure, so please use strong device security and report suspicious activity.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as BEV evolves. When we make changes, we will post the updated policy on this page and update the last-updated date above. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice in the app or by other reasonable means.
